"I could dream a thousand dreams ... Reality is only a term, based on values and well worn principles, whereas the dream goes on forever." - Ian Curtis
Paulo Martins was born in Lisbon in July 1970 and lives in Portugal, currently based in Albufeira, Algarve.
Amateur photographer since 2010, longtime lover of the Arts and its creative process. As a self-taught photographer, this process allowed him to take a step forward, promoting his knowledge.
Over this time, he had opportunity to travel to some amazing and beautiful places. He sought to capture natural and outdoor scenes in an artful way to engage the viewer’s eye and attention. His visual perception allowed him to create his compositions, interpreting reality in own way, always seeing photography as an Art.
His pursuit of composition excellence is a path to helping others see what he sees, encouraging the viewer to scan his photos, to stay in it.
The absence of colour in his works, evokes a deep sense of emotion. Choosing black and white over colour has been a very conscious choice. As someone already said … it might just be the black and white that makes life a bit more colourful.
This is his world of emotions, of senses. This is his way of seeing. This is how he sees in black and white [ seebw ].
“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place … I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” - Elliott Erwitt
“To photograph: it is to put on the same line of sight the head, the eye and the heart.” - Henri Cartier-Bresson
"The golden rule in the art, as far as i am concerned, is that all rules are meant to be broken." - Michael Kenna
“… my way of photographing is my way of life. I photograph from my experience, my way of seeing things …” - Sebastião Salgado
